In short
Your chat stays on your device unless you choose to save it. Yaprecap reads and analyses it in your browser. Analysing needs no account and sets no cookies. We don't use analytics or third-party scripts.
What happens to your chat
When you choose a file, your browser reads it and a background process (a Web Worker) in the same browser tab works out the statistics. The chat text, names and numbers are not sent to us or anyone else.
The results stay in your browser's memory only. They are not saved in local storage, cookies or the address bar. Press “Clear session” or close the tab and they are gone.
What we do process
To show you this website, our hosting provider handles standard technical data such as your IP address and browser type. This never includes your chat.
We don't use tracking or analytics cookies, or any analytics at all. Fonts and scripts are served from our own domain.
If you save chats
Saving is optional. To save, you sign in with your email address. We send the sign-in link through Amazon Web Services (SES, EU region); they only get your email address and the link.
When you're signed in, we set one strictly necessary cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It contains a random code, never chat data.
We store: your email address, your encrypted vault (random salts and your encryption key, itself encrypted with your password and with your recovery code), and your saved chats and their titles, encrypted in your browser. We also store their size and the date you saved them. We can't decrypt any of it.
You can delete a saved chat or your whole account at any time in My chats. Deleting is permanent and removes the encrypted files too.
Changes
If we ever add optional features that store data, they will be opt-in and we will update this page before they go live.
